The traditional animal symbols for the Chinese calendar are used often here in Japan, and since this year is a fun animal (monkeys! hurray!) that's the theme on our card. Last year was the sheep (not so interesting) and the year before was the snake (ugh), but this year... hurray! ("More fun than a barrel of...")
Nozomi & I are both continuing with the work that we have been doing the last few years with one new addition. This spring, I started working part time at Utsunomiya University in the language lab. It fits well into my schedule of private tutoring and teaching at UICS (Utsunomiya International Christian School, where Nozomi also teaches). Sometimes doing so many different kinds of teaching is a bit of a challenge, but it always seems to fit together in the end.
As with previous years, one of the highlights was our annual trip to visit family and friends in the USA. Trips to central Oregon, the coast and northern California were wonderful. The 65th wedding anniversary party for my parents was an encouraging and memorable event that brought the family together with laughter and memories.
I noticed that the last two years, Facebook has basically replaced all my other blogging, so if you're still not on Facebook...
